Corey Paszkiewicz- Owner/Head Trainer
For as long as I can remember I have been involved in sports and fitness. It all started when I was about ten years old. My parents bought me a Hulk Hogan weight set for Christmas. I soon began to workout regularly in their basement. By the time I hit grade school and high school I was involved in basketball, track, wrestling, power lifting, excelling in all. Despite a full understanding of sports and fitness I developed a passion for each and started reading various magazines and books, soaking up any information I could get my hands on.
Upon graduating high school I landed a job at a local gym. This seemingly easy desk job turned out to be the major turning point in my passion for fitness. While working at the gym, I was mentored by two very knowledgeable trainers. Through their training I realized the coaching of my high school athletics had many shortcomings regarding proper form, technique, and nutrition. These mentors taught me how to train correctly by explaining biomechanics and demonstrating different techniques. Shortly after, I began working with my own clients and helping them reach their goals, which for me, there is no better feeling in the world than helping others attain their goals and overcome obstacles. My clients inspired me to achieve my goals as well, which is when I became involved in natural bodybuilding.
Bodybuilding developed into another passion as I watched my body change and transform leading me to many teen and men title wins all before the age of 21. I surpassed my original goals and excelled at bodybuilding, however; after years of training and competing I realized that my endurance and conditioning had suffered. As a result, I became involved in martial arts and mixed martial arts. Participating in these exercises helped re-establish my athletic abilities and opened my eyes to the vast world of physical fitness and all of the options available.
I was always a fan of Olympic lifts, plyometrics, and strength training, so when I discovered CrossFit about three years ago, it re-lit my fitness spark and I slowly started incorporating the techniques into my training regimen. I still compete in natural bodybuilding as well and in October 2011 I earned my pro card in the World Natural Bodybuilding Federation. I credit my win in part to incorporating WODs into my strength-training program, which allowed me to take my body to the next level.
In March of 2011 I traveled to Chicago and earned my Level 1 CrossFit certification. Despite a few obstacles along the way, in October 2011 I started my own fitness bootcamps incorporating functional movements, kettlebells, battling ropes, and plyometrics, to name a few. Additionally, I taught classes at my friend’s facility, CrossFit Gurnee. After a few months of personal training, running bootcamps, and teaching classes, I got the itch to start my own CrossFit gym. I have found the perfect location for a CrossFit gym in my community since the area is definitely lacking one. People need a CrossFit gym as a place that really cares about helping them achieve their fitness goals and improve their overall health instead of just feeling like a number at the numerous big box gyms in the area. I believe CrossFit is the perfect fit for anyone looking to improve their health in a supportive environment.

I have been a fitness enthusiast and worked to maintain an active lifestyle my entire life. My fitness journey began when I was a youth competitive dancer. As I grew older, I participated in group fitness classes and the standard health club workouts. Those were fun for while, but I really was not getting the results I was looking for. Shortly after having my fourth child, I really wanted to challenge myself and I was determined to get into the best shape of my life.
I started working out with a great trainer that designed my workouts and pushed me to become better. Over the years I have learned many things but the support and motivation from my trainer really started to transform me not only physically, but also mentally. I realized that I was capable of doing far more than I ever thought I was. The very things that I thought were “hard” or that I didn’t “like” or were “scary” were the very things that changed my body and were also the things I would never have done on my own.
After a few years of training on my own, I wasn’t seeing the changes I was before. I was still doing the standard treadmill work, isolated weight training and machines daily and varying the order as much as one can with that type of a workout. It seemed like working out was becoming more and more of a chore and I literally started to dread going to the gym.
Earlier this year I was introduced to Corey and he asked me what my fitness goals were. My answer was short; “not to die from boredom.” This was the first time I was introduced to functional training. We worked with everything from kettle bells, battling ropes, free weights, even my own body weight exercises. In addition, he introduced me to CrossFit. I’ve never experienced anything like this before. These were some of the best workouts I’ve ever had and we were only working out 30-45 minutes. The best part was, I was seeing changes again. I was also very hesitant to start because the workouts were in a group setting with partners. I thought I would feel uncomfortable or out of place because I have never trained like this before and I didn’t know anyone. There were people of all fitness levels and each person was very supportive. I have made some great friends in the process.
Over the course of the year, I decided that I was going to take a different career path. I became a pediatric nurse prior to starting my family because I wanted to make a difference and help people. But, leading a busy life and family responsibilities are not conducive to hospital hours. So, I decided to mesh my love for fitness and children with my medical background to help people become healthy in a whole new way and becoming a trainer was a natural progression.
Being a busy mother of 4, I understand how difficult being consistent and finding “you time” for fitness can be. I am really looking forward to passing on everything I have learned about knocking down all the barriers to fitness and overcoming plateaus and learning from our clients as well. At CrossFit Oak Creek we will be your support system every step of the way!

Ever since I was a little kid I remember playing sports. I played all of them, you name it and I was doing it. I didn’t play with toys I played with gloves, bats and balls. My dream like every other child on earth was to be a professional athlete. When I was nine years old I was fortunate to be asked to play on a nationally ranked traveling baseball team. This might have been the greatest experience for someone of that age to go through. We traveled the country every week playing teams from around the country and world and seeing things that children only dream about.
Once I entered high school I was playing soccer, basketball, golf and baseball. I was extremely busy all year round but my passion for sports and being the best I could be at all of them kept me going. I played varsity in all four sports, earning various awards and honors along the way. My greatest and most fond memory was probably when my baseball team won the State title in both my junior and senior years. These were some of the greatest times of my life.
After graduating high school I attended college at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville to play baseball. However my passion for the game just wasn’t there anymore and I decided that I was going to leave school and move out to the west coast. At the time this sounded like great idea and I did enjoy being out on my own and living life. But after looking back at my life this was probably not the best choice I have made. I did learn a lot about myself and life dealing with real world situations as a young adult.
I have been into fitness and taking care of myself for years but would always get to a point where I felt like I was going nowhere with my current routine. I then usually got away from the gym for a few months to realize I was just missing it and would do the same thing all over again. Lucky a few months back a friend of mine asked me to try crossfit out with him. I had heard about crossfit and watched videos online and TV and thought why not it can’t hurt. It was pretty much history from there. I absolutely fell in love with it and realized that this is something that I could make a career out of. After attending Crossfit Oak Creek every day for a few months, I talked with Corey and he offered to give me a position if I got certified.
So on February 23-24 I traveled up to St. Paul, MN and took part in the Level 1 trainer course. I was able to learn everything there is to know about crossfit and what it stands for. This class has enabled me to grow not only for myself but be able to work with clients and help them reach their potential. Finding crossfit has been a personal life saver for me. I have struggled with different issues all my life and this has given me a positive outlook. It all happened at just the right time and I couldn’t thank you all enough for helping me along my journey to happiness.
